Textiles — Burning
behaviour of nightwear – Requirements and Classification
This European standard defines a
classification scheme for the burning behaviour of nightwear and
nightwear fabrics when tested in accordance with EN 1103 but
without the washing procedure.
The contents of this Standard consider those items of nightwear
and nightwear fabrics inc pyjamas and night gowns that could pose
a significant risk of injury to children and adults from the
hazards presented by the potential to catch fire.
Accident statistics indicate the
most common sources of ignition to be related to the following
activities:
1) Cooking
2) Sitting too close to a fire
3) Use of matches
4) Use of smoking materials
5) Candles used primarily for decoration
